Farnborough Under 7's
During rugby season (starting Sun 31st August 2008), the Under 7s meet at
FRFC on Sunday mornings from 10am through until 12pm for coaching (we meet on
the field behind the clubhouse on the left). Some weeks we visit other local
clubs for joint training. Some weeks, we also enter a team into local
tournaments. So please ring and check before coming down. Details of our
fixtures for the season can be found on this website too.
All are welcome throughout the season!
What is Tag Rugby ?
Tag rugby is a fast-moving, non-contact invasion game suitable for boys and girls to play together. Its safe, non-contact nature, combined with the fun and vibrance of the sport, has meant that mini tag is now the RFU's official version of rugby for under-7s and under-8s.

Please read our Under 7 Players Partnership & Position Development Click here for PDF document.
If you are interested in becoming a coach, please contact Lee Young for an informal chat about the U7s style of coaching and what they are looking for in a coach .
We have a thriving squad of around 20 players this season of both boys and girls. We always welcome additional recruits especially from children who will be entering Year 2 in the academic year starting Sept 2008. So feel free to print out this web page and pass on to friends. Or simply email our details on.
Our main focus is on the children having fun, enjoying ourselves and learning basic rugby skills through tag rugby, the RFU's agreed modified version of the game for this age group.
We welcome help and support from parents in any capacity.

Coaching:
We work on individual skills of:
Evasion - side steps, swerving, change of pace.
Handling skills - ball familiarity, static passing, moving passing.
Tagging (Tackling) - positioning, awareness.
Decision Making as an individual
And group skills of:
Attack - working together to move forward including passing, evasion and support.
Defence - keeping a defensive line, reforming a line, working together.
Decision Making as a team.
And learning the rules of tag rugby and most importantly, "having fun!"
Player of the Week
Each week the coaches award a player of the week trophy to an individual who has put in a lot of effort, listened and responded well to coaching, supported their team mates and shown good skill and awareness.
